Week 6- Wait, this class is over??

I have to admit that by this being my last class before I go into student teaching it was very informative. All my experience at Trinity has been great. I was able to to meet new people like James and Corey that have shared interesting ideas that I can bring to my business class in the future. This class also explain more the importance of DI and involving students to the community and being the community into class. It is so important to help students understand that every action that they take after high school has a business impact in their community. We are dealing with a whole new different generation of young learners that are eager for innovation and therefore we need to come up with lesson plans that will allow them to be creative. Setting high expectations for students will improve their skills and become more competitive in any career or job they go into. As a future business teacher, I want students to be aware that this world is full of temptations and I the business textbook might only talk about the legal practices but I will also teach them about the illegal things that this world has so that they don’t fall into temptation that easy.

  1. I can't believe this class is over either! It seemed to fly by. I think our students are becoming more creative which means we need to definitely up our game every day. How can we get their attention every day? This is a question we need to ask ourselves every day going in because there are a million and one things grabbing our students' attentions every minute of the day.

  2. Hello and peace to all,
    Hello Luis,
Once again, I enjoyed your blog and your insight. I like how you talk about how you made a few good friends in this class and will continue with them outside of class. I think it’s such a great idea to form relationships with professionals who share your passion so that you can spur one another on! I also like how you talk about how you’re going to bring up integrity about not being corrupted in the business world. I think that’s a great point! Sure, you can talk about it from the angle of how if you get caught, one might get in serious trouble, but hopefully, many people will also to be able to also put on the radar that it is just wrong to be corrupt and illegal in their business practices.

I believe business and capitalism has a lot to offer. But if unchecked, unfettered, and when greed is the primary motivation, it can cause a lot of problems. So hopefully, we get more people in the business, who yes, want to make money, and but/also have a social responsibility. That’s a difficult thing to teach, but it certainly worth putting on people’s radar’s. Ideally, business can be a win-win situation… People can make money (maybe even get rich), and but society can be served without being taken advantage of or raked over the coals.

One last thing I will mention Luis, while I am so happy that you made a few good friends in this class, and I would expect that you would make new friends in your new teaching environment, don’t forget that there’s other people that you can include in your welcoming spirit beside your inner circle too. True, not everybody is going to be a part of your inner circle (and we need people who are part of her in her circles), but don’t forget to have your circles where including others…. Just politely and respectfully putting it on your radar.
Luis, you have a lot of great stuff you have shared in and all your posts… Thanks for sharing!…. It was nice to meet you… Peace Luis… Peace all

  3. Luis - I agree that how is the class ending already! I found in this class there were many others like me and planning to teach business education! I was excited but also sad because I wish we were in actual class together to meet and exchange ideas. This is only the second time I have a class with another business educator and there were many this time! I have three more business class requirements to finish up since I graduated over 26 years ago! Some of my classes did not transfer well from UIUC or were not offered yet or robust (for example business technology/computers or global business)! I will be starting student teaching sometime next year depending on when I can finish up my observation hours too. I think we all have much to offer when teaching business education. How and what we teach will shape these young minds and this generation may be more mindful of the world impact not just for capitalism but for the earth. I would feel better knowing we found a way to create a more well rounded business person. Good luck in your future!
